Why not give God an extra hour?  You already spend one hour at church each Sunday morning for a worship service, why not join us for a second hour to further expand your spiritual journey?  We have different courses for different age groups.  Each group uses a different curriculum.  There is a place for everyone to fit in.  Give God one extra hour each week to share, explore, fellowship and learn.  Join us as we prepare ourselves to take God’s love into the world.

SUNDAY MORNING CLASSES: 9:30 to 10:30

ADULT CLASSES

Shelter Class – meets in Room 212.  This class for adults of all ages uses a variety of books and short term studies in their time together.  Recent studies have included Jesus’ parables, the book of Romans, and Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life.  This fall the class will begin a study of the Sermon on the Mount.  Co-leaders are Dan Ryder and Donna Przybys.

Fellowship Class – meets in Room 208.  This multi-generational class of singles and couples uses video based studies, short term book studies, and study papers as they explore what it means to be the church of today.  This fall the class will study the book Trolls and Truth by Jimmy Dorrell.  The book is written by the pastor of the “Church Under the Bridge” which meets every Sunday beneath I-35 in Waco, Texas.  The reviews of the book have been terrific.  Leader is Ken Coker.

Young Adult Sunday School – meets in Room 213.  This class is designed with young families in mind.  Using various curriculums, this group will study ways that faith interfaces with day to day living.  This is a great place for those with children living at home as well as young career folks to gather and support one another in this changing world.  The study this fall will be the book The Shack by William P. Young.  Jeannie Peters is the leader of this class.

Reid Class – meets in Room 210.  This group of adults uses the Present Word curriculum from the Uniform International Lessons as they study the Bible together.  This lecture/discussion based class welcomes anyone who is looking for a traditional approach to study of the Bible.  George Reid leads the class.

YOUTH CLASSES

Tween Class – meets in Room 209.  This class for students in grades 5 through 8 sets a great foundation for Bible literacy.  This fall they are studying how religion is used in literature.  Some of the books to be studied are by authors such as C.S. Lewis, J.R. Tolkien, and Max Lucado.  Hands on activities and games make this study interesting and fun for these young teens.  Steve Heaton is the teacher for this class.

Senior High Class
– meets in Room 214 (the Youth Lounge).  Students in grades 9 through 12 are invited to come and help reorganize this class.  This fall, the class will study the booklet Faith Questions – God.  This study explores the question, “Where are you, God?”  The question will be studied through the Bible and the creeds and confessions of the Presbyterian Church.  Come join other senior highs and Seth Coulter, leader, as they delve into this question.

CHILDREN’S CLASSES

Sonshine Class – meets on the first floor in room 101 by the Sanctuary.  This class is for 3, 4, and 5 year old children who have not started kindergarten.  The curriculum used in this class is from Gospel Light and has many hands on activities to reinforce the Bible lesson.  Mary Cohoon is the teacher for these high energy little people.

Elementary Grades Sunday School – meets on the second floor of the main building.  Classes are offered for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade.  This group will be using the biblically based, multi-aged curriculum entitled We Believe.  Teachers for this coming year will be Mary Gunter, Brittny Daubenheyer, Kelli Coker, and Glenda Knost.  With this great group of teachers, this will be a class full of fun and learning.

OTHER CHRISTIAN GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES

Monday Night Book Study – begins Monday, September 14, at 6:00 p.m.  This will be a 10 week study of the book Healthy Congregations by Peter Steinke.  This is a follow-up to the book studied this past spring entitled, How Your Church Family Works by the same author.  Steinke uses the analogy of healthy biological systems.  He says a healthy church family focuses on mission.  “When life is meaningful, (church) people have more energy and hope.”  This study is open to everyone.  You do not have to have read the first book to participate.  Cost of the book is $17.00.

Tuesdays with Dave – On the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 9 to 10 a.m., join Pastor Dave for Bible Study in Room 111.  The class will begin a study of the book of Daniel on September 8.  (However you may join the class at any time.)  Pastor Dave will be teaching from Sharon Pace’s 2008 commentary.  This will be an indepth study, difficult at times, but well worth the time and effort.

UCM (United Campus Ministries) Evening Study This will be a new study opportunity for college students on Thursday evenings.  Leaders will be Eric Marsh, our youth director, and Pastor Dave.  This program is still in the making.  Stay tuned for further details.
